Welcome to the Travis CI Team, Raphaela!

We’re very happy to announce that a new Builder is now part of our team: please join us in welcoming Raphaela Wrede to Travis CI!

Raphaela is joining us as our second team lead for our Design and Platform Engineering team.

For the past ten years, she’s been working as a Ruby/backend developer, and her role models for the past few years have been programmers like Sandi Metz, Katrina Owen and Sarah Mei. A clean coder by trade, Raphaela loves refactoring code, and says: “I think that the beauty of code lies in its simplicity. As developer it has always been my aspirational goal to express myself in code in the most clear and simple way.” She’s also an expert on code reviews, a topic that she’s been thinking about a lot. She loves code reviews but has seen a lot of things go wrong there, and she gave a great talk about her learnings along the way to help others get better at them: Code Reviews - Do’s and Don’ts. In general, Raphaela has always enjoyed mentoring and coaching, for example at RailsGirls Berlin and other user groups. She’s a feminist and advocate for diversity and inclusion, likes to talk about the tech industry and the problems in it, and she’s is convinced that we need to make the tech industry more inclusive.

In her free time, Raphaela does a lot of sports, and on Sundays, you can find her playing football on the Tempelhofer Feld in Berlin with her women/trans football team. She enjoys reading sociology and psychology related books, and also loves travelling: she recently explored Costa Rica and Japan by bike.

We’re very much looking forward to working with you, Raphaela. Welcome to Travis CI! We’re happy to have you on board.
